Louise Goodwin Child Psycology Harrogate

Louise specialises in helping children and adolescents (ages 11–17) who may be experiencing:

  • Anxiety and worry

  • Low mood or depression

  • Confidence and self-esteem struggles

  • Difficulties at school or home

  • Coping with life changes

  • Emotional challenges linked to autism, ADHD, and other forms of neurodiversity

Louise’s Approach

Louise works closely with both children and their parents to provide a truly collaborative approach to therapy. She takes the time to understand each child’s unique thoughts, feelings, and experiences, creating a safe and compassionate space where they feel heard and valued.

She helps young people develop practical coping skills, build emotional resilience, and gain confidence in managing everyday challenges. By working alongside parents and carers, providing guidance and insight so the whole family feels supported and empowered throughout the therapeutic journey.

This dual focus ensures that children not only learn strategies to manage their emotions but also feel secure knowing their parents are actively involved and understanding the problems that they are having.

Her therapeutic approach combines:

  • Evidence-based CBT techniques – practical tools to help children manage thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

  • Creative and age-appropriate strategies – ensuring therapy feels engaging, relevant, and empowering.

  • Family involvement – working closely with parents and carers so children feel supported both in and outside of sessions.

Special Interests

With a background in CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), Louise has extensive experience supporting the emotional wellbeing of children and young people. She has a particular interest in working with neurodiverse children, including those with autism and ADHD, always tailoring therapy to their individual strengths and needs.
